Nearly a decade ago, pianist Tamás Érdi sat in the audience
at the Palace of Arts and listened to the program of Zoltán Kocsis and Ferenc Sebő. "Only from a pure source.
The names of Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály are today synonymous
with the discovery of the folk music of the Carpathian Basin,
its elevation to art music and its "adaptation" to the concert stage.
These arrangements are dressed up folk songs.
As Kodály wrote: "We need clothes if we are to bring it from the fields to the city." Tamás took that evening home in his heart and keeps it as a defining memory.
The conductor of the concert, Zoltán Kocsis, and his host, Ferenc Sebő,
are two important and defining figures in Tamás' life.
Evoking this atmosphere and that performance, we welcome the audience to Dörgicse,
where together with Ferenc Sebő we will research and search for the "pure source."
Ferenc Sebő presents the original folk songs, and the arrangements by Tamás Érdi,
Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály.
